Flight Glow - Operating, Installation and Charging
|
Installation Connect the FLIGHT GLOW to the throttle channel of your receiver, then connect the throttle servo to the FLIGHT GLOW. Connect the black lead of the FLIGHT GLOW to the battery negative (-). Connect the red lead of the FLIGHT GLOW to the engine case. Connect the glow plug connector to the battery positive (+). Follow the diagram for proper connections. Mount the FLIGHT GLOW to a visible surface; drill a 0.25" diameter hole, push the mounting ring through the hole from the visible side, push the indicator into the ring from the under side until the indicator snaps into the ring. Mount the battery where convenient and not to alter the aircraft balance. Operation Whenever you turn on your system make sure that the throttle control is at the idle position. The receiver or transmitter can be turned on first. After both are ON the FLIGHT GLOW will blink. The system is now ready for operation; advance the throttle to full on and return to idle, the glow drive is now on continuously. As the throttle is advanced the indicator will begin blinking. The length of time the indicator is on will continue to decrease as the throttle is advanced until quarter throttle is reached after which the indicator is off, power is no longer going to the plug. As the throttle is moved back towards idle the glow drive will begin to come back on. Moving the throttle control to kill the engine will cause the FLIGHT GLOW to turn off the power to the plug. The FLIGHT GLOW is now off, to turn the unit back on the throttle must be advanced to full on. For a PDF file of the Installation and Operation directions click HERE
Charging Your existing glow driver charger can be used to charge the FLIGHT GLOW driver battery. Take two alligator clip wires. Use one to clip the positive (+) terminal of the battery to the tip of the glow driver charger connector. The second clip lead is used to connect the battery negative (-) terminal to the body of the charger connector. Check the drawing below. It may be more convenient to wire the battery to a separate connector to interface to the charger. Note that the driver battery used in the FLIGHT GLOW is a 1900 ma-hr capacity. The standard driver battery is 1300 ma-hr, so the FLIGHT GLOW battery should be charged for 50% more time to be fully charged.
